I’m sitting at my kitchen table, looking out at the redbud and sassafras trees, which are now in bloom. I can smell the lilac that circles the redbud tree and as I look at it, I notice a butterfly…the first I’ve seen this year.
It is amazing to me, that how, in a few short weeks, we can go from freezing temps and snow to green grass, dandelions and violets, robins and butterflies. Isn’t God amazing?!
Have you ever wondered why God didn’t just create the world in black and white? Why he took the time to make each color, not just one green, but hundreds of variations? Why he didn’t just “cookie cut” each butterfly and bird, but instead, made each of them distinct, from their size to their song?
Maybe you’ve wondered why God created you the way he did. We all have things about us that we’d like to change. Some are within our ability; others are not. But why do you think that God took the time to create each of us so differently? Why not just make all of us the same?
Do you realize that you are an individual to God? That you are a unique person, not just a face in the crowd? How do I know this? Because He told us.
Jeremiah 1:5 I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.
Jeremiah 29: 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Psalm 139:13 For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
God created you the way you are for a reason, for a purpose. It wasn’t an accident. You are who you are and that’s pretty amazing! You are a child of God!
As you look around you today at the beauty that is the spring, think of the time it took God to create each individual leaf, blade of grass, petal on a flower. Then think of how much more you mean to him and how much he loves you. This week, we were reminded of just how much…enough to send his son…enough for Christ to die for our sins…enough for Christ to overcome the throws of death and rise again.
If you’re still not sure, listen to the song below…He loves you more!
