Are you a facebook junkie? Do you spend time chatting with friends or playing games? Do you enjoy catching up with old friends?
I became a member of facebook when Derek left for Iraq. It was a way to stay connected with him. We often chatted online…it made me feel closer to him. He would post pictures and I could see what he was seeing…to some extent. I loved the pictures of the children…their smiling faces…enjoying the attention given to them by the soldiers.
Over the past few years, I’ve spent a good deal of time on facebook. I can chat with my family that lives in England or Oklahoma…I can catch up with people I went to high school with and those that I grew up with.
I post pictures online and my family and friends can see special occasions, like Craig’s graduation, Derek and Brittany’s visits, Jim and his wonderful garden.
I got word this past week that a childhood friend who lives in Tennessee was ill. He was in ICU and his wife left me a message on facebook, asking for prayer. People that I’d lost track of for years…now we share our prayer needs.
I’ve also used facebook as a way to share my blog with others. I’ve had several people ask me why I haven’t been writing. Much of the problem is my eyes…they don’t like to look at the monitor for very long. But I decided that is a poor excuse…even if I have to take breaks while I write, I need to stay at it. God has used others to remind me of this.
And so, let me thank you for your prayers and concern. Let me assure you that things are getting better. And thanks for the reminder…this is important and I need to stay at it.
God can use the most ordinary things…like facebook…to do extraordinary things. Look around you and see what God is using to speak to you today. It may be a person, a song, a flower, an animal, a cloud…the possibilities are endless…and so are his blessings. He delights in us as we delight in him.
Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, “We have seen remarkable things today.” –Luke 5:26
It was so good to hear from you again! Love you ~Kate
